Bodies for Rent is a 2024 Canadian documentary film directed by Habiba Nosheen (co-directed with John Choi and Anu Singh) that takes viewers inside the hidden world of pharmaceutical drug testing. The 44-minute investigative documentary follows two professional clinical trial subjects who make their living by renting out their bodies for experimental drug testing in exchange for money, revealing how economic challenges have pushed them into this risky line of work where they face significant medical risks and are incentivized to lie about medication side effects.
The film premiered on CBC's The Passionate Eye on September 25, 2024, and is available on CBC Gem. It was produced in collaboration with the Investigative Journalism Bureau (IJB) at the University of Toronto and 90th Parallel Productions.
